The Bieber Fever

Do you have the Bieber fever? Well, millions of people of all ages have the bug. It seems to be quite contagious. I find myself humming Baby, Baby, Oh unexpectedly on occasion. The Justin Bieber phenomenon was once an everyday Canadian boy, but since gaining worldly notoriety in 2008, he has become a full pledged celebrity! This amazingly talented seventeen year old released an EP as well as an album within the first few months of being discovered on YouTube and has now become a superstar in the music industry.

Justin Bieber Growing Up

Justin’s full name is Justin Drew Bieber. Born on March 1, 1994 in Stratford, Ontario, Justin was brought up in a single parent home. Justin’s mother, Pattie Mallette, has been the rock in Justin’s life and is supportive with all of Justin’s personal goals. The Bieber learned to play musical instruments, first introduced to drums & guitar, when he was a child. Fast forwards to the year of 2007, Justin participated in a singing competition in his hometown called the “Stratford Idol”. Without actually practicing, Justin was able to win the second place in the competition! Pattie Mallette, was so proud of her son that she helped Justin post his video clips of himself singing onto YouTube, successfully attracting the attention of thousands of viewers daily. The videos eventually went viral. The word spread like wildfire!

The Live Changing Moment

YouTube. Who uses it? Millions of people every day from all over the world. Guess who else uses it? Scooter Braun. Who is that you may ask and why is he relevant? Because he owns “So So Def Recordings” and he immediately took interest in Justin’s video postings. The studio managed to track down the Bieber family and offered them to be flown out to the studios to try Justin in the sound booth to record his skills.

R & B singer Usher was invited to the studio to meet with Justin and to see if he had what it takes to be a success in the industry. Usher was blown away by the vocal skills as well as his confidence. They wanted this kid recording ASAP. Jointly, “So So Def Recordings” and Usher signed Justin Bieber to start his first album.

Justin’s First Single

While still in the process of recording and refining the album, the studio released a single called “One Time”. The world loved it and wanted to see and hear more. Even before the albums official release The Bieber Fever began to spread across the globe and reached the top twenty in five countries.

When the album “My World 2.0″ was released in 2010 with the hit single called “Baby” the fans ate it up. Teaming up with “Ludacris” for the hit, The Bieber Fever was totally out of control.

The Bieber Fever Merchandise The word also spread to the business world. Offers for product line promotions began to invade the once innocent Justin Bieber’s world. Today the Bieber promotes everything from clothing to jewelry. Generally people can become tired of seeing him everywhere they look… but I digress.

Full Pledged Celebrity

2011 comes along and the Bieber is in all the tabloids with Hollywood Starlet Selena Gomez. He is simply enjoying what life has to offer. Fame and money usually change a person. Justin seems to still be himself even though he is surrounded by the media.

By referencing coming Retrograde Periods we can mark our calendars and use natal charts to see when and how we will be touched. By taking these simple steps we can objectively foresee with confident clarity and engage accordingly with Mercury retrogrades rather than be at the mercy of unfolding events.

As the “winged messenger” Mercury appears from Earth to be moving backwards during these 3 week windows thrice a year be prepared for certain upsets regarding all things communication, transportation and mechanically related.

How to Write an Online Profile That’s Really You

Someone said to me recently that writing her online dating profile felt like standing in front of a mirror naked trying to find her best side in florescent lighting. The word vulnerable comes to mind.

I recently read an article that talked about how a profile is simple a tool to “market” yourself. By the end of the article even I had sweaty palms and a tight chest, and I left my online profile days behind me four years ago when I met my husband on Match. The premise of the article was simple, you’ve got to stand out above the competition and the competition is stiff… That’s one way of looking at it and if you choose to adopt that attitude you are already locked into a feeling that dating is hard.

Another way of looking at it is that your love will find you. Competition in dating or business or anything else is so 1980′s. Dating is as fun as we let it be. Your profile isn’t the product of a marketing plan. It’s a way of introducing yourself, not selling yourself.

So, how do you introduce yourself with ease and not angst???

Use your tag line wisely. Go for getting a smile. Everyone likes a little brevity. People tend to take the tag line very seriously, trying to say everything important in one sentence. Lighten it up a little and use your tag line to create curiosity not “inspire”. The tag line on my Match.com profile was, “This is a woman Quentin Tarantino would write about”. I didn’t come up with that line of literary genius. My son did. I balked at it when he proposed it. However, I decided to humor him. It was way more effective then “Looking for someone to travel the world and share my life with…”.

Speaking of my son writing my tag line, he wrote most of my profile too. Get someone who loves you to help out. More specifically get someone who loves you who is the gender you are want to attract to help out. Men and women do not really speak the same language so getting a translator on board pays.

For the love of God and all things Holy, be honest. If you aren’t into sports or the great outdoors, don’t elude to the fact that you like camping or football. If your idea of dinner four nights a week involves a drive through window, don’t indicate a healthy life style is a high priority. You’re looking for a compatible mate. You won’t find it if you are trying to write to an imaginary audience saying the things you think they want to hear.

Generally less is more, but too little isn’t enough. If you’re an online dating site you know what I mean. Profiles aren’t intended to be a biography or a place where you rattle off all you’re hopes and dreams. You wouldn’t do that if you were introducing yourself to someone in person. That said, too short isn’t going to create enough curiosity to get things moving to the next step. Rule of thumb for women writing a profile is use fewer words then you might want to and rule of thumb for men is use more.

Get a great picture, not just good, make it great. Make it recent. Don’t go through your pics from the last five years and pic the one that is least embarrassing. Don’t crop out anyone, because even if you’re cropping out your little sister, people will think it’s your ex. Take the time to get some good photos. Get someone who loves you to take them. Make sure you have some photos that back up your profile. For example, if you say you’re the adventurous type, get some photos online that show you being adventurous. Additionally, try to include a mix of pics. A couple that show you being you all dressed up are a good touch along with a couple that show you having fun doing something cool. A picture is worth a thousand words, so feel free to use your pics to tell a story.

Tips For Proper Kissing Etiquette!

Many cultures have customary kissing etiquettes. The French for instance kiss twice when they greet someone. Once on each cheek. The Dutch kiss three times and in sunny California they touch cheek to cheek and say “mwouah”. Even as children we learn the importance of a kiss. A kiss can awaken a sleeping beauty, or turn a frog into a handsome prince. Then there is the kiss of Romance. It can be passionate, inviting, or can signal the end.

There’s a lot of pressure put on the first kiss. Many think that a good kisser equals a good lover. Others feel a kiss should have chemistry. Either sparks will fly or fade. But most people would all agree that the first kiss should be gentle, fairly quick and tentative. If you’re wondering how to best approach your first kiss just follow the lead of the person you are kissing. Most people kiss the way they want to be kissed. Hard or soft, slow or fast, exploratory or… well, you get the idea.

Lesbian and Gay People in Ireland

Being gay was made a criminal offence in the 1860s. It was not until 1993 that homosexuality was decriminalised in Ireland. Although Oscar Wilde, Michael Mac Liammoir and Roger Casement were known to be gay it was still illegal until recently.

One of the main voices in favour of homosexuality was Senator David Norris. He took a case to the European Court and won and so the law in Ireland was changed. Senator Norris has said that gay people are being treated like second class citizens unless they have the right to marry “I wants me rights even if I never use them”.

The reason that gay people want to marry is so that they can be treated like everyone else. They want to establish secure relationships and raise children and own a home and have inheritance rights. A lot of these rights were granted by the Civil Partnership Bill which was published on 26th June 2010. But the Bill does not go as far as allowing gay people to marry allegedly on constitutional grounds.

The Civil Partnership Bill allows the following:

1) Right to register the Civil Partnership

2) Contains Succession Rights (Inheritance)

3) Protection of the home shared by the couple

4) Maintenance in the event of separation

5) Financial protection to the dependent person of an unmarried opposite sex couple or same sex couple at the end of a longterm relationship.

Colm O Gorman of Amnesty International has said that the Civil Partnership Bill further enshrines discrimination against gay people because it fails to provide adequate rights for the children of gay couples. Mr. O Gorman is a gay man and the father of two children. At the present time it is possible for a gay person in Ireland to adopt but only as a single person. Gay couples are not permitted to adopt. Colm O Gorman has called for a referendum so that the people of the Irish Republic have the opportunity to vote on changing the Constitution in respect of the recognition of the family.

A traveller’s guide for gay people visiting Ireland has advised that it is better not to flaunt one’s sexuality. It is unclear whether public displays of affection are acceptable in Ireland and even the Gardai might be hardpressed to say whether or not they cause offence. Travellers are also warned that if they make a phonecall to book Bed & Breakfast accomodation that a landlady might declare she has no availability upon realising that a gay couple wish to stay. Old habits die hard it seems.

In terms of religion Anglicans welcome homosexuals and David Norris attends an Anglican Church on a weekly basis. Roman Catholic Teaching still consider homosexuality to be a sin. Presbyterians are strongly anti gay. In our modern pluralist society, surely acceptance of diversity is the answer.
